This is a stay for travelers who want more than just seeing wildlife — for those who want to live with it for a few days, the way the forest breathes, the lake laps, and the chimps move. If you are thirsty for remoteness, authenticity, and experiences that shift perspective (not just photo ops), Greystoke Mahale meets you.

We share the mountains and the lake with so many animals, but it's the chimps that really inspire us. Time spent with them is time away from everything else that is ordinary.

Nomad’s Greystoke Mahale doesn’t just take guests; it gives back. The lodge is built with reclaimed dhow wood, uses local materials and labor, supporting craftsmen and villages. It participates in environmental conservation in the Mahale Mountains, working with local forest protection, community schools (e.g. Katumbi Village), health outreach, and trusted primate conservation practice. These efforts ensure that your visit helps safeguard chimpanzee habitat and supports local livelihoods.

We’ll build the perfect adventure that includes Greystoke Mahale with other remote Tanzanian wilds, arranging flights, transfers, chimp treks, and peaceful beach ends.
