I’ve always believed that travel has a way of speaking to us long before we learn its language. For me, it began with a surfboard, a plane that barely fit it, and a wild stretch of earth waiting for me in the Bahamas. That trip wasn’t planned.

It wasn’t luxury. It wasn’t curated. It was freedom, pure and simple.  A dirt path through brush. A hidden cave above Surfer’s Beach. That’s where my story began on the Bahamian Island of Eleuthera, in 1982. And if you had told me then that travel would define my life, my career, and eventually my purpose, I probably would’ve laughed. But here we are.

Three Decades Later - Thirty-plus years of wandering this planet have only deepened my belief that travel is not the miles we cross - it’s the meaning we gather along the way. I’ve had the privilege of watching my daughter discover Africa. Of witnessing travelers cry at sunsets that felt like homecomings. Of sitting with guides who’ve become family. And through all of it, one truth stayed with me: Travel changes us if we let it.
