RAINFOREST MEETS OCEAN Masoala is one of the rare places where primary rainforest and coral-rich ocean meet within a single day’s exploration. You can begin a morning tracking canopy wildlife and finish the afternoon snorkeling a reef, all without lengthy transfers. BAREFOOT SECLUSION Accommodations favor quiet immersion over ostentation: palm-thatched treehouses, discreet beachfront rooms, and walkways that put the forest and shore at your doorstep. Privacy and uncomplicated service let you slow down and tune to the place. CONSERVATION AND LOCAL IMPACT The lodge sits within a private conservation reserve and partners with local communities and researchers. Guest stays contribute directly to habitat protection and field projects, and it is common to meet conservation staff during your visit. NATURALIST GUIDING, SMALL GROUPS Local naturalist guides lead short, interpretive walks and boat trips that emphasize behavior and ecology rather than checklist tourism. Excursions are flexible, timed to tide, light and animal activity. WILD SEA ACCESS Direct access to a coral bay and Antongil Bay’s whale grounds means snorkeling, kayaking and seasonal whale watching are natural extensions of a forest stay, not separate day trips.

The lodge is designed as an eco-haven to allow an intimate experience of this unique environment while minimizing our impact.

We utilize an array of solar panels, battery banks, and inverters to provide the bulk of our electrical power. Our infrastructure includes plastic, leak proof septic tanks and grease traps for grey water to ensure no pollution of the surrounding ecosystem. We also support the local community through job creation, commissioning local artisans for construction, and financing regular beach clean-ups.
